City Services Updates

The Public Works Department will endeavor to resume normally scheduled solid waste and recycling services on Wednesday, September 23.  However, weather conditions may delay or interrupt this effort.   Out of an abundance of caution, we ask that solid waste and recycling not be placed out this evening, but first thing tomorrow morning.  This includes recycling pick-up for sections A, C, and D; Limbs and Brush for section B.   Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Schedule 

City Hall and the Library and pools are closed Wednesday.

Municipal Court is canceled Wednesday, and court service windows are closed.

Police and Fire personnel remain on duty 24/7 for emergency needs.

All departments will be available to answer calls and emails remotely during regular business hours. We expect to return to normal operations on Thursday, September 24.

The City of Bellaire has a no-wake ordinance that prohibits cars, boats, or other vehicles from traveling on a flooded street at a speed that creates a wake that is likely to increase flooding that will cause personal injury or damage to property.

Streets are beginning to flood, please stay home and off the roads if possible.  If you need to travel, please click here for a list of Streets with High Water in Bellaire.  This list is current as of 9:30 am this morning and may not be all-inclusive, weather conditions are constantly changing throughout the day.  If you would like to report high water, please call the non-emergency number at 713-668-0487.

We will continue to monitor the development of Tropical Storm Beta and will provide updates on city services pending the changing weather conditions and potential impact on affected services.  All information is current as of Monday, September 21, at 4 pm.  Any changes to these services will be promptly relayed.

There will be no solid waste and recycling pick-up on Tuesday, September 22, or Wednesday, September 23 of this week.

The Bellaire Town Square Family Aquatic Center is currently closed due to mechanical issues.   Evergreen Pool and the Elaine Wood Therapy Pool are open but may close subject to weather conditions.

The Bellaire LIFE Advisory Board meeting is canceled for Thursday, September 24.

The Voter Registration Drive Thru event is rescheduled for Friday, September 25.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 23, will be rescheduled. The Blood Drive for Friday, September 25, is still scheduled as planned.

  • Please prepare your homes and get ready for Tropical Storm Beta.
  • Please bring in your recycling bins as soon as possible after pick-up today and secure any items such as yard decorations, limbs, and brush that could float and block drains.
  • Park vehicles in your driveway or garage.
  • Use 911 for emergencies only.

Solid waste and recycling collection services will proceed as normal on Monday, weather permitting. Due to potential flooding conditions and tropical storm force winds, solid waste collection services will be canceled Tuesday and Wednesday. Updates on the status of solid waste collection on Thursday pick up will be provided before Thursday.  In addition, please make sure to bring in any recycling bins and items not able to be collected as soon as possible on Monday afternoon and secure any items that could float and block drains. Please secure loose limbs and brush until the next scheduled pick up for your collection zone.  Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Schedule 

City Hall and curbside service at the Library will remain open Monday morning. However, many city services may close should weather conditions worsen throughout the day on Monday due to rainfall, flooding, and tropical storm force winds.
