At the time of his appointment to the Bellaire City Manager position, Paul A. Hofmann had over 30 years of experience as a local government manager.
Paul’s professional career began with the City of Austin, serving as an assistant to the Austin City Manager, and as capital programs manager with the Austin Public Works Department. After 15 years with Austin, Paul served as City Manager of Alvin for 3 years, as Assistant City Manager of Sugar Land for 4 years, and as Kerrville’s City Manager for 3 years.
Paul had just completed his 4th year as Castroville’s City Administrator when he began his tenure as Bellaire City Manager in February, 2014. During the time between Kerrville and Castroville, Paul worked as an independent contractor, providing strategic facilitation services to cities and other local governments, and consulting services for a development company.
The City Manager’s duties are detailed in the City Charter. In summary, the City Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of all city functions. Those duties include personnel administration, budget development and management, and enforcing city ordinances.
Being engaged and accessible is an enjoyable top priority for the City Manager.
Paul and his wife Barbara have 3 adult sons. Pastimes include reading, hunting, baseball, and enjoying time with family. Paul and Barb enjoy being involved in church activities, Bible study, and socializing.
