Deacon Tittel announced as new Fire Chief

The City of Bellaire is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Deacon Tittel as the new Fire Chief of the Bellaire Fire Department. This announcement follows an extensive search conducted by the City of Bellaire. The search and evaluation process included participation by current Bellaire Fire Department employees. At the conclusion of this process, Mr. Tittel was unanimously identified by the selection committee as the top candidate.

Mr. Tittel began his career with the Bellaire Fire Department in June of 2000 as a Firefighter Paramedic and has steadily risen through the ranks of Lieutenant and Shift Commander.  He also served with the Highlands Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years retiring in 2013 as Assistant Fire Chief.  Tittel holds an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology from San Jacinto College and a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Emergency Management Administration (Cum Laude) from West Texas A&M. Tittel’s additional certifications include Master Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Fire Instructor III, Driver Operator-Pumper and Incident Safety Officer.

“During his time with the City of Bellaire Deacon has taken advantage of every opportunity to prepare to be Fire Chief.  Some of those opportunities have been very challenging.  Our competitive selection process was another opportunity and challenge, and I am not surprised Deacon came out on top.  The Bellaire Fire Department has been blessed with strong leadership, and Deacon continues that legacy,” stated City Manager, Paul Hofmann.

Mr. Deacon Tittel will officially begin his job as Fire Chief on July 7, 2018 where he will command a staff of 22 full-time firefighter/paramedics, as well as part-time and volunteer staff.

Mr. Tittel’s leadership, dedication and knowledge of the field are the characteristics that the City of Bellaire was searching for to continue to build the strength and teamwork that has been solidly established in the Bellaire Fire Department.  His experience and values will be huge assets for the City and the residents.   The City of Bellaire welcomes Deacon Tittel as the next Fire Chief.
