Grill Safety Tips

July 4th Grilling Safety Tips

July 4th is a day to celebrate! Fireworks are usually the first thing most people think of when it comes to July 4th, but grilling in the back yard is a popular holiday activity that merits precaution. Please remember the following grilling safety tips before you cook for friends and family.

  • Use your grill well away from your home and deck railings, and out from under branches or overhangs.
  • Avoid loose clothing that can catch fire when cooking on the grill.
  • Declare a three-foot "kid and pet-free zone" around the grill to keep them safe.
  • Periodically remove grease or fat buildup in trays below your gas or propane grill, so it does not ignite.
  • Open your gas grill before lighting.
As a reminder, FIREWORKS are not allowed in the City of Bellaire. Enjoy the day, and please be safe!
