All work that involves damages to your home or structures on your lot along with any work to re-establish your utilities on the private (or house) side of the meter, such as any plumbing or electrical work, will require a City of Bellaire Permit. That way we can inspect the work upon completion to be sure that it was done to current codes. All contractors doing work in the city must be registered with the City before they can obtain a permit, but they can get both the registration & permit at the same time. This also reminds the contractor that an inspection will be required.
Please ask to see the permit & registration before the work begins, if there is no permit and they want you to obtain one or they will give you a better deal if they don’t get one, please reconsider or remind them that one is needed.
Once you have gotten a contractor for the work, please be sure that you have a written contract that clearly states what will & won’t be provided for the price quoted.
If a contractor asks you to pre-pay for the work in full or even a “deposit” before the work is done, please reconsider doing business with them and consider calling our office at 713-662-8230 or 8231 to report them.
The City will pick up the debris from the storm, once it has been prepared & set out at the curb.
Be sure to separate your tree debris from your bagged debris.
