2020 Hurricane Season

The City of Bellaire is prepared for the 2020 hurricane season. We are hoping you are taking steps to protect yourself and your family.  The Atlantic Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30 each year. The hurricane season does not historically heat up for Southeast Texas until August or September, but we have seen some storm developments early this season, now is the time to prepare!

The City of Bellaire hosts an annual Hurricane Preparedness meeting with presentations by the Emergency Management Coordinator, Fire Chief Deacon Tittel.  Due to restrictions regarding social gatherings, we have created a Hurricane Preparedness information webpage. This page contains videos that the City has created that cover the information typically presented in the meeting. These videos and much more can be found on the City's website, please go to https://bellairetx.gov/1670/Hurricane-Preparedness.

Mosquito Dunks

Mosquito Control in Bellaire

The Mosquito Control Program uses environmentally friendly fog weekly to control mosquito populations in Bellaire. In addition to this, larvicide dunks are dropped into the storm sewer inlets monthly to prevent mosquitos from growing.  The mosquito control program in Bellaire typically begins in May and lasts until October.

The City offers a “No Spray Request” for its citizens who do not want the spraying to occur near their home. Please click here for a "No Spray Request Form" or contact the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department to request the “No Spray Request” form.  If you have questions about the mosquito spray schedule, contact the Parks Superintendent by phone at 713-662-8285 or 713-662-8280.
