2017 Citizens Survey

We are pleased to announce the implementation of the 2017 Bellaire Citizen Survey, which went live on February 1, 2017. The purpose of the 2017 Citizen Survey is to assess public satisfaction with the quality of City services, gather input about the community’s priorities, and establish a baseline to help the City better understand how satisfaction levels can change over time. In addition, the survey will also gather useful information about the community as a whole and Bellaire residents’ perception of the community and surrounding areas.

The multiple-choice survey asks citizens to rate quality of life aspects such as Bellaire as a place to live and visit in addition to characteristics such as the overall appearance of Bellaire and its availability of paths and walking trails. There are questions asking citizens how often they do certain activities such as visit a park or report a crime.  Plus, there are questions asking citizens to rate various city services. The compiled survey results will be shared with the public this summer.

Selected Households

We have partnered with the University of Houston’s Masters of Public Administration Program to complete the survey instrument and create a list of 1,000 randomly selected Bellaire households. Each household selected from the sample will receive a notification postcard with specific instructions on how to complete the survey.  The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and individual responses from the survey will be recorded anonymously.

We believe that Bellaire citizens are the perfect source from which we can learn how to improve the quality of life and the quality of City services here in Bellaire. We hope that residents take the time to respond. Your input is important to us and will continue to help us move forward with our goal of making Bellaire an even better city to live, work and raise a family for generations to come.

"Opt-In" Participants

In addition, we are providing a means for those residents not selected in the 1,000 household random sample to “opt-in” and also take the survey. The City is making the survey available electronically to all residents who wish to provide their input but do not receive a postcard as described above.  For instructions on how to "opt-in", please contact the City at CitizenSurvey@bellairetx.gov or 713-662-8160.
