City of Bellaire Launches New False Alarm Tracking System and Fee Structure
Bellaire, TX — The City of Bellaire is launching a new PMAM False Alarm Tracking System to improve public safety response and reduce the number of false alarms that divert emergency resources.
Beginning this month, October 2025, the system will track false alarm activations from alarm systems across the city and apply a structured fee schedule for excessive false alarms. The goal is to encourage responsible alarm use while ensuring that police and fire personnel are available for true emergencies.
“False alarms place a significant burden on public safety resources,” said Bellaire Police Chief Onesimo Lopez. “This system allows us to better manage those calls, improve response times, and promote accountability among alarm users.”
Key Features of the Program:
- Online Registration: All residential and commercial alarm users should register their systems through the PMAM portal.
- Tracking & Notifications: The system will track alarm activations and notify users of false alarms.
- Fee Structure: A tiered fee structure will apply after three false alarms within a 12-month period.
New Annual Alarm Permit Requirement
Also beginning this month, the City is introducing an annual alarm permit and asking for your voluntary compliance. This small fee helps cover the cost of emergency personnel responding to false alarms.
- If you have already purchased a permit within the past year, call PMAM at 1-866-552-9032 to avoid being charged again.
- If your permit is over a year old, please renew or re-register through the portal. Have your permit number ready when you do.
Residents and businesses can register their alarm systems and learn more about the program at: Alarm Permit Portal
