Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is a specialized division within the Police Department responsible for investigating criminal offenses and conducting follow-up investigations initiated by the Patrol Division that require advanced investigative techniques or extended case development prior to case closure or the filing of charges. Division personnel prepare criminal cases for submission to the District Attorney’s Office, analyze trends in criminal activity, and process major crime scenes. CID detectives also assist Patrol officers with preliminary investigations when needed and include the Department’s Evidence Technician, who is responsible for the secure handling, documentation, and processing of physical, digital, and forensic evidence.
