  • The Mosquito Control Program uses Ultra-Low-Volume (ULV) fog to control mosquito populations in Bellaire. Spraying typically begins in May and lasts until October. The City may continue to spray later in the year to reduce mosquito populations.

The spraying occurs weekly: Tuesday nights after 10:00 pm, in all areas inside and outside Loop 610.

The spraying cycle can be adjusted due to weather or other conditions.

The City offers a “No Spray Request” for citizens who do not want spraying near their homes. Please click here for a "No Spray Request Form" or contact the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department at the number/email below to request the form.

The City also adds larvicide dunks to the storm inlets monthly when the mosquito fogging begins. (Typically May - October)  These dunks work to kill mosquito larvae before they become airborne.

We do our best to minimize the impact of the Mosquito Control Program on other insects and pollinators. The Ultra-Low-Volume (ULV) fog targets smaller insects like mosquitos, and we spray at night when mosquitos are most active and pollinators are typically dormant. We also offer the No-Spray Request for those who do not want the fog near their homes.

If the West Nile Virus is detected in Bellaire, the Harris County Mosquito & Vector Control Division will begin their mosquito spraying protocols in our community to help prevent the spread of the disease.   The City will continue the Mosquito Control Program as scheduled.

If you have questions about the Mosquito Control Program, contact the Parks Superintendent at 713-662-8285 or 713-662-8280 or email Parks Superintendent.
