Street Sweeping Program

The City of Bellaire will begin a street sweeping program on Monday, March 4, 2024, to enhance the city’s image and keep storm sewers clear.

Sectional Approach:

The city is divided into four sections for street sweeping.  Street Sweeping Section Map     

Each section corresponds to a specific week of the month:

Section 1: Swept during the first full week of the month.

Section 2: Swept during the second week of each month.

Section 3: Swept during the third week of each month.

Section 4: Swept during the fourth week of each month.

Parking Considerations:

If your area is scheduled for sweeping, avoid parking on the street from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday).

Weather and Equipment Contingency:

If a section cannot be swept due to weather or equipment issues, Public Works will adjust the schedule as soon as possible.

Street sweeping plays a crucial role in protecting our environment.

  • It reduces pollutants that flow into storm drains, which eventually discharge into lakes, rivers, and wetlands.
  • Targeted pollutants include sediment, trash, debris, leaves, organic matter, nutrients, metals, and hydrocarbons.
  • Other contaminants like exhaust, automotive fluids, pesticides, herbicides, and construction debris are also removed by street sweeping.
